Cam Mongoven

MARKETING DIRECTOR + COLOMBIAN ADOPTEE

Cam Mongoven is a Colombian adoptee who was adopted from Bogotá at two months old. He was raised in the Twin Cities, MN and Austin, TX, with two younger sisters, also Colombian adoptees. Being adopted has shaped his understanding of what it feels like to be simultaneously “both” and “neither.”  This perspective continually motivates him to facilitate and champion kind, inclusive spaces for everyone.

Cam earned his B.A. in Sociology from Colorado College with an emphasis on Urban Development and Criminal Justice. He served as an advisor in developing the College’s transformative Anti-Racist Strategic Plan – one of the first of its kind at an academic institution.

Professionally, he has worked for several nonprofits dedicated to causes such as healthcare, immigration, housing, and now adoptee wellness. In recent years, he began to critically engage with his adoptee story. In doing so, he has not only returned to Colombia multiple times but has also become part of astrong community of Colombian adoptees in Chicago and across the country.

Personally, Cam enjoys spending time with his fiancé, family, friends, and two kitties, Peach and Mazie. Always curious, Cam is learning about developing a healthy gut microbiome, supporting his mental health, planning new adventures, and dabbling in yoga.
